Putting Your Hit Song Out There
There's an entire marketing process to be explored if you have taken the trouble to complete a song you think you may be successful. The main difference between an amateur and professional composer is that the professional writer has published at least one song to his credit. It follows that if a new song composer accepted and successfully exploited by a recognized publisher, will find little or no difficulty in obtaining severe hearing and consideration of issues in the future.
What is the first song, therefore, that presents the greatest obstacle to the composer again. The reasons are:
1. Documentation submitted to publishers by composers again, only a very small percentage have any commercial value. The largest percentage of this material is either badly written, contains direct "steals" of copyrighted songs, or lacks sufficient originality to compare favorably with the numbers written by professionals.
2. There is no shortage of material from the song. Publishers will receive an offer enough new to keep their numbers catalogs and staff songplugging busy.
3. No obligation, therefore, for publishers looking for new composers. This does not mean that they have closed its doors to new talent. It does mean, however, that this new talent must be especially highlighted to get attention.
4. A certain amount of time, effort and expense must be risked in the publication of any song. The editor obviously wishes to keep this risk as low as possible. If you publish the work of a successful professional songwriter, he know there's a good chance that the song with a "click" that will pull or perhaps even treatment.
5. Songs written by professional composers generally much easier to plug the numbers posted by strangers.
Marketing of a song - especially a first song - often requires patience, tact and time. Assuming that the song has real commercial value, there are several ways to win an audition serious by the editor. However, there are certain facts that must be considered when the initial contact is made.
First, it must be clear that there are no shortcuts in the marketing of a song. The composer must have a single goal in mind. . . the publication of his last song of a renowned and prestigious music publishing firm.
What form should be the song when it was submitted for publication? This question often perplexed by the new singer not decided whether the number should be printed, handwritten, fully managed or fully orchestrated. A handwritten, legible copy really is all that is necessary.
If the song is made by mail, it is generally advisable to have the issue properly arranged, or at least have adequate harmony indicated in the manuscript. The reason for this is that the pianist editorial may make as many as the composer had intended it to be played, with the harmonies adequate and chord sequences. No need to go to any great expense for a simple piano arrangement.
However, if you must be a problem for the composer to use an arranger New York, any local music teacher should be able to draw on the required simple harmonies. A professional piano arrangement costs about $ 25.00 (depending on of the arranger).
If the composer is able to contact the editor personally and is able to perform adequately their number, no need to have the number of arrangements. This also applies if the composer brings a friend who is able to perform the number.
Piano arrangements are not essential but it sure that the number will be played the same way the composer intended. If the number has a strong melody line and does not require any special or complicated matters, a professional pianist will always be able to fill in the proper support, without any difficulty.
All that is needed is will and fate. Go for it!
