Ray Charles Music

Unfortunately for Joe Cocker's debut in 1964 alone would not be the full-blown treatment of Ray Charles Georgia on my mind that it had conducted an orchestra of 22 pieces Decca London recording studio.

A & R man Dick Rowe felt her commercial appeal was limited, Joe was called back to cut a cover of Lennon and McCartney I'll Cry Instead of a hard day's night, he had Jimmy Page and Big Jim Sullivan on guitar. It was the end of the road for his current persona as Vance Arnold and the Avengers, and the time of Joe Cocker Big Blues with renewed training. He was granted six months leave of absence from work of its gas installer and a national tour stood next to Manfred Mann, Little Eva and the Merseybeats.

That was a disaster from the start, a loss-maker that ended prematurely. The record also bombed, no surprise to Joe that he never thought the pop song of bread and butter showed her vocal ability. Reservations were thin as the new year 1965 arrived. A last-minute invitation to walk around U.S. air bases France saved the day, though the band had to SOS for a young singer to keep happy military. A return to Sheffield, things were even thinner and did not mean bigger Blues concerts.

Joe began working in the warehouse a news agent wholesale, but despite giving live for a year, remained convinced he was destined to perform. Suddenly, it became a quartet with University of Sheffield reserve then spoke, tentatively at first, a return to the road. Banda fat was in manufacturing and Joe is a relationship with a new bass player, Chris Stainton, who became his friend and collaborator. The association would be tickled Marjorine UK Top 50 in May 1968 and operate a reprocessing of the 'Beatles with a little help from my friends # 1 hit that same year.

U.S. would not be fame, but fortune and grateful for Joe help of true friends who, unlike rock hangers-on, were not to bleed it dry. The road would be long and bumpy, but the man who survive.

Born and Bred in the same City as Joe I am a Yorkshire lass from Sheffield in South Yorkshire. I have watched the triumphs and the dramas of Joe Cocker unfold, often with pride, sometimes with sadness, but never doubting Joe's marvellous talent. To launch my "Remember When" series about singing legends I am starting with Joe Cocker. It is a personal tribute rather than a review, but, in my opinion, the authorised biography, With a Little Help from My Friends, by JP Bean, is the most detailed and best researched of all the Cocker books dealing with the ups and downs of Joe's life and career. My tribute is in three parts and you can read the first by going to the link.
